A cidade de Chicago tem uma bela história com o hip-hop, revelando nomes como Common, Kanye West e Lupe Fiasco. Nos últimos anos vem surgindo uma nova geração encabeçada por Chance The Rapper e Vic Mensa. A bola da vez agora chama-se Mick Jenkins que em 2014 fez barulho com a mixtape “The Water(s)” conseguindo um contrato com o selo Cinematic Music Group, o mesmo de Joey Bada$$.

Nos preparativos pro seu álbum de estréia, o novato soltou um EP com nove faixas intitulado “Wave[s]” dando um ótimo preview do que vem por aí. O trabalho conta com produção sob o comando do ThemPeople que assina a maioria faixas, mas ainda traz nomes como Kaytranada e Lee Bannon que marcam pontos altos ao trabalho. Chicago city’s beautiful history with hip hop is well-known. The city launched names like Common, Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco. Over the last few years, a new Chicago generation is been rising, headed by Chance The Rapper and Vic Mensa. And this scene’s brand new flavor is called Mick Jenkins, who shook things up in 2014 with the mixtape“The Water(s)”, that led him to sign contract with Cinematic Music Group label, that also features Joey Bada$$.
